About Whimsical Woodland Way

What is Whimsical Woodland Way?

Whimsical Woodland Way is a growing brand established in 2020. It is the creation of children’s author and illustrator, Emma Reed and is built with love, imagination, and a passion to uplift, inspire, and encourage children and adults alike, through her stories, workbooks, activities, and illustrations. Emma is an advocate for growth, wellness, mindfulness, silliness, and happiness. For laughter that makes your tummy hurt and warmth that makes you feel like part of her Whimsical Woodland Way family.

Where Did Whimsical Woodland Come From?

On the 12th August 2019 when Emma was doodling a mouse, she made one tiny mistake… that tiny mistake was the spark of something amazing. It was the birth of Naughty Morty and Whimsical Woodland Way! However, the business of Whimsical Woodland Way did not begin until six months later.

During those first six months Emma created more characters, wrote little stories, and shared them on Facebook At the time, it was just something she did to help occupy the day, and it gave her something positive to focus on, other than her disabilities from a stroke in 2015. It was also a very welcome distraction as she went through therapy for PTSD.

During her therapy, she realised that Naughty Morty was based on her and that the other characters were her family. She noticed how her stories reflected a lot of what she was feeling. In particular, the first story she wrote, Naughty Morty and the Red and Blue Sock.

Whimsical Woodland Way is so much more than just books and doodles. It is an entire universe, full of imagination, dreams, wonder, magic and as much silliness as you could shake Ken Dodd’s Tickling Stick at!
